Contour lines in Google Maps!

I'd been wishing for contour lines in Google Maps for a long time and then suddenly yesterday (June 3rd), I saw them in the terrain view. Excellent!!! Thanks Google!

Apparently they were added in April 2008 and I just hadn't gotten the memo.

It would have been nice (more intelligent), if the height/altitude annotations had been added consistently so that they could be read in the uphill direction, as the Ordnance Survey of Great Britain do! As it is, it is very difficult, sometimes, to be able to decide which way is up or down! Also, on steep terrain, when contour lines are bunched together, and intermediate lines are missing, the interval should be shown nearby.
